Our Mother’s Day Brunch is going LIVE and we’ve got all the details together. We also have a beautiful Vongole recipe to try if you’re inclined to treat someone who is the Mom in your life for Mother’s Day, and of course, a subscriber deal on clams so you can make Vongole!
Mom + You + Brunch =
We all love a great brunch spread. In fact, Toronto is a brunch town. One of the craziest days of the year at any good brunch restaurant is MOTHER’S DAY. And while I am a huge supporter of our local restaurant scene, sometimes having a meal perfectly planned and ready to go at home (or at her home) is just more relaxed and enjoyable. Enter the Hooked at Home Brunch: Mom’s Day Edition.
Our brunch can be ordered for you to enjoy WITH mom, at your place. You can bring it TO HER place to spend the day together. OR you can order it and have it DELIVERED for Mom to enjoy with someone else!!!
This Year’s Brunch
I love conceiving of meals for you to enjoy at home, with little to no prep, that give you the feeling of being spoiled, cared for and WELL-FED. 😁
It’s sometimes a bit tricky to come up with new items on the fly, but I am pretty excited about this Mother’s Day Brunch offering I have put together.
I hope you love it.

Hand Harvested Clams from British Columbia
Clams! We know they’re a bit spotty. But knowing why can introduce a whole new appreciation for picking them up when you see them in our stores -
The guild we purchase our clams from is a weather-dependant fishery; If it is too wet and wonderful out it is impossible to dig in the sand beside the sea.
With the clearer weather coming back these clams become a more reliable staple in our cases.
Despite the on-again, off-again nature of this collection method we love to support this group of family farms that raise wonderful shellfish in the glacier fed waters off Vancouver Island. Their clams are real gems and pop with flavour.
The other thing you may not know about clams is that they are a nutritional powerhouse - they pack in an amazing amount of Iron, Vitamin B12 and Vitamin C.
Clams are an ethical, clean protein that cook up quickly and make you look like a rockstar when you serve them. Queue Mother’s Day…
Bucatini alle Vongole
Servings: 4
Ingredients
4 cloves garlic, peeled + halved
2 tbsp olive oil
¼ tsp chili flakes
1 ½ lb clams
1 cup white wine (Pinot Grigio)
1 ½ lb bucatini or linguine
2 tbsp lemon juice, fresh
1 cup Italian parsley, chopped
sea salt + fresh pepper
Method
In a medium pot, preheated over medium heat, add the olive oil and the garlic cloves. Let cook until golden, about one minute. Add the chilies, clams and the wine. Cover the pot.
Let cook for 3 to 5 minutes, shaking the pot occasionally. Once all of the clams are open, strain, reserving the broth. Set the clams aside to cool.
Cook the pasta in a large pot of well salted boiling water until al dente.
Separate the clams from the shells except for 20 or so.
Heat the reserved broth over medium heat in a pan large enough to accommodate the pasta and clams.
Once simmering, add in the lemon juice, the parsley and the reserved clams. Season well with sea salt and fresh pepper.
Stir in the spaghetti and serve immediately with crusty bread. (And Enjoy!)
Thank you for choosing Hooked to help you celebrate the special moments in your life. Wishing you a Mother's Day filled with love, laughter, and plenty of delicious food.
